All About Eyebrow Tattoos
What is semi-permanent makeup?
Semi-Permanent Makeup (SPMU) is a form of tattooing applied to the eyebrows. It is also known as permanent cosmetics, micro pigmentation or cosmetic tattooing.
What is the process?
Eyebrow Tattoo treatment is a three-way process – The Consultation, The Treatment and The Touch-up.
Do I have to shave off all my eyebrows?
No. The only time brow hair needs to be removed is to tidy up either through tweezing or threading.
How long will it last?
This varies depending on your age, sun exposure, diet, lifestyle. It can last few years but we recommend a colour boost every 12 months to maintain the desired colour depth and shape of the eyebrows.
What can I expect after the treatment?
Immediately after your treatment, there can be a little redness and swelling, but this is normal and will usually disappear after a day or so. The colour will appear darker for about a week and lightens up 40% as the skin heals.
Is it expensive?
Not if you look at the long-term effect. it does not run or wash off and it’s a great time saver. Hair stroke brows (Microblading) is $399 – this includes consultation, one treatment session and aftercare advice
Who is it suitable for?
- Anyone over 18 years of age
- Anyone with little or no eyebrows
- Anyone with scars through the brows
- Anyone who want to thicken or lengthen their existing brows or to correct different shaped eyebrows
Does it hurt?
A tropical numbing cream is used before & during treatment to help ease any discomfort. Everyone has a different threshold of pain. However, some client feel some vibrating and scratch sensation; some say it was not as bad as they were expecting.
How long does it take?
The whole process can take anywhere between 2-3 hours depending on how much work is to be performed.
Is the treatment safe?
Yes. Sterilisation and hygiene is of the upmost importance before, during & after treatment. The pigments used are made from natural minerals that are selected as safe, nontoxic and hypoallergenic. New single, disposable sterile needle is used for each client and disposed of for complete safety. Clients can be offered patch test prior to treatment if there is any concern about allergy.
What do I need to know before treatment?
- Waxing and threading treatments should be performed no less than 1 week prior to your treatment
- IPL laser hair removal should be performed no less than 2 weeks prior to your treatment
- Eyebrow tinting should be performed no less than 4 weeks prior to your treatment
- Eyebrow hair stimulating products should not be used for 4 weeks prior to your procedure
- Botox in the brow region should be performed no less than 2 weeks pre treatment
- Do not take aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen 2 days prior to your treatment
- No Tanning and no direct sun 30 days before and 30 days after
Are there any risks?
Sometimes there are risks involved; these include undesired results in colour, allergic reactions, infection, or scaring. Risks are minimised by going to a qualified and experienced professional who would follow all safe and safety guidelines.

1. The Consultation
The first part of the process is a consultation, talk you through the look you are trying to achieve, we would discuss the range of designs, shapes and colours available. A consent form will be filled out to ensure we have all the medical information necessary for the treatment.
Please check our consent form for further information before the appointment. You will be provided a printed copy before the procedure and you don’t have to print it.
Please contact your family GP if there is any concern.
2. The Treatment
- Before we begin, your photo will be taken so that you can see the change in your look before and after the treatment. The next part is to study the shape and contour of your face, eyebrows are then tweezed or threaded into a flattering shape if necessary
- Using a makeup pencil, a template of what your eyebrows would look like is drawn, we would never begin the treatment until you are completely happy with the shape. You can try different looks and colours until you are happy with the effect that is created for you.
- Using a Specialist Facial Cosmedic Device, the brows are then filled in with natural looking strokes that mimic individual hair. You’ll have the appearance of fuller, perfectly shaped, symmetrical brows.
3. The Touch-up
A touch-up treatment is recommended ; this is scheduled for 4 – 6 weeks after your first visit to truly get the best of your enhancement.
This is to perfect any final adjustment – to reinforce the colour to the brow area, because as the skin heals, it may not retain some pigment on some part of the eyebrows and you may have few patches that need to be refilled, this is completely normal. (Additional cost applies)
